What to Bring to a Private Dog Field Session

Most private dog fields provide the basics. But a little preparation makes the difference between a good session and a great one.

The Essentials

  • 🐾 Your dog — on the lead until fully inside the double gate
  • 🐾 Poo bags — even if the field provides them, bring your own as backup
  • 🐾 Water and a travel bowl — most fields have water, but always worth having your own on warm days
  • 🐾 Your booking confirmation — includes the access code and instructions
  • 🐾 A lead — needed for entry, exit, and moments where you need control

For a Training Session

  • 🐾 High-value treats — proper training treats, not regular kibble
  • 🐾 A long line (5–10 metres) — invaluable for recall practice
  • 🐾 A tug toy or ball if your dog is toy-motivated
  • 🐾 A training plan — know what you want to work on before you arrive

For an Active Session

  • 🐾 A ball or frisbee for a good game of fetch
  • 🐾 A flirt pole — brilliant for high-energy dogs and sighthounds
  • 🐾 Comfortable footwear for grass or soft ground

Seasonal Extras

Summer: Extra water, sun protection for yourself, avoid peak heat hours.

Winter / Muddy months: Wellies, old towel in the car, dog coat if your breed feels the cold, seat protector.
