How to Photograph Your Dog Walking Field for More Bookings
Your photos are doing more selling than your description. Dog owners make booking decisions in seconds based on what they see. Here's how to make sure your visuals do the job properly.
Timing Is Everything
Shoot on a bright, overcast day if possible ā harsh direct sunlight creates unflattering shadows on grass and washes out green. The golden hour (an hour after sunrise or before sunset) gives your field a beautiful warm glow. Avoid shooting on grey, muddy days ā save those shoots for after you've mown and tidied.
The Essential Shot List
- ā Wide shot from each corner of the field showing full scale
- ā Close-up of the double gate airlock entry ā clearly showing both gates
- ā Full fence run along at least two sides
- ā Any seating, water trough, or facilities
- ā Any agility equipment
- ā Parking area and entrance approach
- ā A dog enjoying the space if possible ā ask a friend to bring theirs
Use a Phone Confidently
You don't need a professional camera. A modern smartphone in good light will produce excellent results. Shoot landscape (horizontal) orientation for the main listing images. Clean your lens before shooting ā a smudged lens is the most common cause of soft, foggy photos.
Edit Simply
Increase brightness and contrast slightly in your phone's photo editor or a free app like Snapseed. Boost the greens very gently to make grass pop. Don't over-edit ā customers are expecting to see the real field.
Update Your Photos Seasonally
Summer photos showing a lush green field will convert much better in spring and summer. Winter photos showing a maintained, tidy field in different conditions show year-round quality.
ā ļø Please Note: Ensure your photos accurately represent the current state of your field. Misleading listing photos can lead to negative reviews and disappointed customers.
